The Good News
Team Building activities can be a great way to get to know your employees or colleagues outside of normal work environment. Improved interaction in the workplace can improve productivity, which is great news for your business.
The Details
There are many different types of activities that you could undertake to bring your team closer together, with just about any type proving beneficial.
At our office, every Friday we have lunch together. We each take turns making lunch (or outsourcing), and the relaxed atmosphere makes for some very interesting topics of conversation.
The Downside
There are many different options available to build the relationships in your workplace. While getting together outside of your normal work environment is likely to be highly beneficial, there are some things worth keeping in mind. Not everyone gets along all the time, and that is ok. Being in a relaxed environment is ideal for team building, there should still be a level of professionalism as everyone has to work together, so it’s probably a good idea to monitor alcohol consumption.
In a Nutshell,
Participating in activities as a group can be beneficial to your team by potentially identifying other strengths within your team, and seeing people in a different light rather than just the person in the office that tells people off for using too much stationery.
